I was invited to be on the 7th grade English team at Kinard Core Knowledge Middle School in Fort Collins, CO for Fall 2020. It was the year of the pandemic. Kinard started as fully remote, then phased into hybrid and ended back in remote learning. Because Kinard is a Professional Learning Community school, there was a big focus on collaboration and supporting one another. I worked with my Common Course teachers a lot to ensure student success. I had three classes: Daily English, Regular English, and Honors English. I felt very fortunate to work with kiddos during such a tough time.

First of all, I want to thank everyone for being a part of my student teaching experience. I had knowledgeable and supportive mentors guiding me to serve my students best. The overall learning curve was gaining confidence and making quick decisions rooted in safety and social emotional health. It was also fun to loosen up and allow some laughs in the virtual classroom. My students were going through a lot and we are humans first after all. I am beyond excited to be a full-time teacher.
